Fabric Cryptography announced the public developer testnet for its Verifiable Processing Unit (VPU) architecture following the completion of a $33 million Series A funding round co-led by Blockchain Capital and 1kx, with strategic participation from Offchain Labs and Polygon Ventures.
The cryptographic hardware acceleration market has emerged as one of the most critical frontiers in blockchain scalability. As zero-knowledge rollups and fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) protocols increase proof complexity, general-purpose CPUs and GPUs face substantial thermal and throughput constraints. Fabric's custom VPU architecture delivers dedicated silicon logic specifically optimized for polynomial arithmetic and multi-scalar multiplication (MSM).
Through the new developer testnet, engineers can compile circuits from Circom, Halo2, and Plonky3 directly into Fabric's hardware-accelerated prover registry. Fabric also unveiled an incentive program rewarding developers who test benchmark suites and provide cryptographic telemetry. With zero-knowledge proofs rapidly becoming the standard for cross-chain settlement, Fabric Cryptography's hardware infrastructure promises to reduce proof latency from minutes to milliseconds.
