Goat Network has announced the official launch of its public incentivized testnet, unveiling an optimistic decentralized sequencer framework tailored for Bitcoin Layer 2 scaling. Supported by ecosystem grants and backing from the Metis Foundation and Satoshi Lab, Goat Network directly addresses the vulnerability of centralized rollup sequencers in the Bitcoin space.
Traditional rollups depend on a single sequencer operated by the development team, creating censorship risks, MEV vulnerability, and potential network halts. Goat Network disrupts this paradigm by implementing an open, distributed sequencer network where independent node operators stake assets to coordinate transaction ordering and batch verification. Additionally, the network introduces native yield generation for locked Bitcoin, allowing participants to earn returns without sacrificing custody.
Early community members and developers can now bridge testnet assets, stake in sequencer validator pools, and interact with the initial wave of native DeFi dApps. Goat Network confirmed that early testnet participants will earn sequencer points directly redeemable for governance allocations upon mainnet genesis.
