Lighter has completed the deployment of its high-speed on-chain central limit orderbook (CLOB) on Arbitrum One, offering professional and retail crypto traders institutional execution speeds with verifiable non-custodial custody. The protocol is backed by $6.8 million in seed funding led by a16z crypto and Robot Ventures.
Unlike traditional automated market makers (AMMs) that subject traders to high slippage and toxic MEV sandwich attacks, Lighter utilizes a specialized zero-knowledge matching architecture. Orders match off-chain in microseconds and settle verifiably on Arbitrum, enabling traders to place, modify, and cancel limit orders completely gas-free. Capital efficiency is further augmented by unified cross-margin accounts, allowing multi-collateral borrowing and perpetual exposure under a single balance.
To reward organic trading liquidity, Lighter unveiled Season 1 of its Trading League, distributing weekly leaderboard points based on Maker volume, resting order depth, and liquidity vault deposits. Active traders qualify for early community governance incentives ahead of the protocol's upcoming decentralization roadmap.
